GIF backgrounds, videos and music for your profile
Supported formats and file sizes for maybio avatars, backgrounds and songs. Upload files or import direct GIF, video and audio links.
Use your own background or the gallery
In “Background”, choose from six images and three included animated backgrounds, or upload your own image, GIF or video. Adjust darkness, blur and framing so your profile remains readable.
Background videos loop without their audio. Use “Music” for a song. Visitors can pause videos and gallery GIF backgrounds.
File formats and limits
Editor options are free. These technical limits apply to each uploaded or imported file; they are not a paid plan.
Avatar: JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 12 MB. Image background: the same formats, up to 20 MB. Video background: MP4 or WebM, up to 80 MB and 60 seconds. Music: MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC, up to 25 MB.
MP3 is often a practical choice for audio size and compatibility. MP4 with H.264 works in many browsers. A file’s container alone does not guarantee that every device supports its codec.
Import a GIF or song from a link
Under the upload control, use “Or paste a direct link”. Enter a public HTTPS file URL and press “Import”. maybio saves a copy and applies the same format and size checks as an upload.
The URL must return the file without an intermediate page, sign-in or private access. Giphy, YouTube and Spotify pages are not direct file links. Use a direct link when the service provides one and you have permission to use the file.
If importing fails, check that the link opens the file, has not expired and meets the size limit. You can also download the file yourself and upload it in the dashboard.
Set up the player and sound
In “Music”, select a song, edit its title and artist and set the volume. Browsers may block automatic sound, so visitors need to click to enable it. You can add an entry screen with your own text.
You can add Spotify to your social links. This does not import a song into maybio’s player or connect a Spotify library. Use a supported audio file for the player.
Keep loading fast on mobile
A WebP image is often smaller than a long GIF. For an animated background, a compressed video can reduce download size. Avoid unnecessary resolution and check the portrait framing before publishing.
Smaller files also help visitors on mobile data. Keep enough contrast between the background and your name, bio and links.
